How important are minerals for our lives?
A mineral is a naturally occurring solid formed through geological processes that has a characteristic chemical composition, a highly ordered atomic structure, and specific physical properties.  They are inorganic molecules that are essential for normal metabolism, growth and development, and for the regulation of cell function. Minerals are not made by the body and must be obtained through the diet.
